What is Gum Recession?

Gum recession refers to the loss of gum tissue along the gumline. This can occur as a result of periodontal disease, the natural aging process, or mechanical damages due to over- zealous brushing as well as teeth grinding or clenching.

How does PST Differ from Traditional Gum Graft?

Traditional gum graft involves multiple cuts and numerous stitches.  Donor tissue has to be removed from palate, and it is sutured in place with existing gum tissue as it heals.  PST™ is a minimally invasive option for treating gum recession. Unlike traditional grafting techniques, PST™ is scalpel and suture free.

How is PST Procedure Performed?

After the target area is fully anesthetized, a needle is used to make a small hole in the patient’s existing gum tissue. Through this pinhole, special instruments are used to gently free up the gum tissue. These tools help expand and slide the gumline to cover the exposed root structure, and small collagen strips are inserted through the pinhole to hold new gumline in place.
