Partial Dentures

Partial Dentures

When a few teeth are missing, and the remaining teeth are strong enough, a partial denture can be a treatment choice.  Once you get used to it, it can be comfortable.

What Types of Denture are Available?

  • Metal frame acrylic denture
  • Valplast flexible denture

  • Flipper

  • Delineator

Pros and Cons of Partial Dentures

  • Economical
  • Can be done rather quickly
  • May look like real teeth
  • May be a good temporary solution while waiting to get implant treatment or during implant healing.

  • May need training to get used to it
  • May get loose from time to time
  • The bone and gum under the denture may shrink with time and the denture needs periodic repair or replacement.
  • Anchoring teeth may deteriorate due to daily pounding.
  • Patients who have tori on lower jaw or palate cannot tolerate dentures.
